Carty Lake experiment…

Using a large-scale (1 km)

electrode array installed on

the bottom of Carty Lake

(Kapuskasing region), and

recording for 3 years, it

was possible to derive

MT response functions with

sufficient precision to permit

determining the best-resolved

conductivity profile of the

mantle to date.

Minimum structure inversion

shows resistivity minima at

• 250 km (asthenoshere)

• 410 km (phase transition)

• 750 km (660 km transition)
